02Please note

Transposition

All selections are performed one whole step (two semitones) below the published key. This is done to restore the darker color that the original tempo implies. Intervals, voicings and form are unaffected by the change.

Listeners with absolute pitch have occasionally reported discomfort during the first eight bars. The effect does not persist.

Prepared parts

Drums, percussion, guitars, horns, additional keyboards and backing vocals are prepared in advance and reproduced from a laptop at a fixed level. They are not adjusted during the performance. Piano, voice and bass pedals are performed live.

Duration

Part I, 28 minutes, of which 23 minutes 51 seconds is music. Interval, 15 minutes. Part II, 38 minutes, of which 33 minutes 44 seconds is music. The balance is introductions and the changes between selections, which are timed with the selections. The interval begins and ends on time.
