I have moved “Home at Last” to the beginning of the second part. The previous position required a keyboard change that was audible from the room even when it was not audible through the speakers. Placing it after the interval has resolved this.
The printed list will reflect the change. Please disregard the August version if you still have it.
For a period, this address displayed an unrelated page following a lapse in hosting. This has been corrected.

The technical rider has been revised. Hosts holding Rev. C or earlier are asked to replace it. The revision adds one clause and clarifies another. No other terms have changed.
Items left after the October engagement have been returned to their owner.
A few people have written about the two listings for Saturday evening. My engagement was in the main room. Mr. Kettering performed on the west patio. Both performances took place.
My program began after the room was reset and ran for 63 minutes. The description “support act” in the patio announcement was not part of my agreement with the venue. I have asked for it to be removed from subsequent listings.
For clarity, the main room seats 48. The west door, which connects the main room to the patio, was open for part of the evening. I have since asked that it remain closed during my engagements.
Anyone who received the wrong program may write to me for a replacement.
This site has been redesigned by Aranda Studio. The notes, the program notes and the technical rider are unchanged in substance. Please update any bookmarks to the program page, which has moved.
The first full program was given at the Vesper Room, Saguaro Palms Motor Lodge, on June 16, 2012. I still have the running order, including a penciled substitution for “Aja.” We began at 8:40.
The room is gone now. It seated 46, although I do not have an attendance figure. I am grateful to those who came, particularly the people who stayed after the interval.
For clarity, earlier poolside appearances advertised under a similar name were a separate act.
The second arrangement of “Glamour Profession” was lost in April. The drive in the performance laptop failed on Saturday, April 17, and the prepared parts could not be recovered. A backup existed. It was of the first arrangement.
The arrangement log records 186 hours against it. I will not be reconstructing it. Listeners familiar with the history of the Gaucho sessions will understand, I think, why it seems right to leave it where it is.
Thank you to those who watched yesterday evening’s performance of “Aja,” given forty-three years to the day after the album’s release. The camera was fixed above the keyboard, and there was no commentary. The audience included viewers from as far as Flagstaff.
The printed program remains available in the description of the recording. I have replied to the one comment received.
A third program note, Why the rhythm section is prepared, has been published. It addresses a question that has been raised recently.
For clarity: the prepared parts are not finished works and are not intended to be heard outside an engagement. Where they have been used in other settings, this has been discontinued.
The program now has its own address, onemansteelydan.com. The notes below were published on the previous page and are reproduced here as published. Engagements, the program notes and the technical rider will be kept here from now on.
Dr. Bexler will arrive one hour prior to each engagement for setup. Hosts are asked to have the performance area clear at that time.

Walter Becker died on Sunday, September 3. Yesterday evening a program of his songs was given at Palo Verde Fellowship Hall, Moon Valley, at 7:00. Admission was free. Thank you to those who came, and to the hall.
The pedals were silent for one song, in his memory.

The Weekend Picks column of the North Mountain Ledger for Friday, February 19, gave my name in connection with an engagement on a Thursday at another venue. I did not perform on that date. The listing was not requested, and I have written to the Ledger.
The arrangement of “Aja” is complete. It was begun in the autumn of 2009. The arrangement log records 1,140 hours. It will be included in the program from the next engagement, in full, at the end of the first part.
A statement regarding the name was published on this date.
From Saturday’s engagement, the printed program includes full personnel credits for the prepared parts. There are 31. They are given in full because the parts were written in full.
