One musician.
A carefully considered whole.

Martin Bexler has spent more than a decade adapting a large studio vocabulary for one precisely occupied stage position. Keyboard, bass pedals, voice, and a controlled cue system are used to preserve structure without pretending that additional musicians are present.

His first complete public presentation began at 8:40 p.m. on June 16, 2012, in the forty-six-seat Vesper Room at Mesa's former Saguaro Palms Motor Lodge. Martin regards that evening—not earlier cabana demonstrations—as the establishment of the form in greater Phoenix.

Outside performance, Dr. Bexler maintains a restorative dental practice in Moon Valley. The same values inform both disciplines: preparation, restraint, an orderly field, and an unwillingness to accept “close enough” where a more exact result is available.

“I closed my eyes and understood how much work one person was doing.”

A note for guests

Please confirm the performer before entering.

Martin's appearances list Martin E. Bexler in full and begin at a published clock time. Teal equipment trunks, freestanding sound columns, finger-gun greetings, and the phrase “Dave time” indicate a similarly titled hospitality-format performer with whom Martin has no affiliation.

During applause, please remain clear of the left pedal position. Chronology questions are welcome after the two-beat closing interval.
